A machine is used to dot tattoo pigment into the scalp to replicate hair follicles. We use a carbon based black ink which is diluted down to create several shades of grey. The grey gives a shadow in the scalp tissue, behind the hairs, to reduce the light/white scalp to darker hair colour contrast. This in turn makes the hair look more dense, even though we haven't implanted hair, just tattooed the scalp.

Female hair loss/ thinning can be caused by several factors with some of the most common being;

-female pattern baldness

-alopecia

-scar camouflage

For female treatments, we generally require three treatments to achieve optimal results, however some patients may require more treatments. Once we have achieved desired results, we will not need to revisit the area until it has faded significantly- for some that may be years. The darker the shade used from the start, the longer lasting the pigment will be. Some patients may not need to return for 2-4 years after their initial course is completed however other patients may wish to freshen up and go darker sooner than that, or there may be newer areas of thinning that have not been treated with may need to be added on sooner than the refresher. It really varies case to case.

Female Pattern Baldness can be measured using the Ludwig scale. Pricing is reflected on the area of the scalp requiring tattoo, and the time allocation. Therefore we can only give a rough guide below of pricing. You will need to send photos or show us the scalp at your next appointment to distinguish how much area needs to be tattooed.

Initial Scalp Tattoo Treatment $500-$2000 (depending on area) includes full consult, allow 180mins, $30 for Post Tattoo Colour Protection Cream

Refinement Tattoo Treatment $500-$2000, allow 180mins (must be 1-2weeks after Initial Scalp Tattoo)

Second Refinement Treatment $500-$2000, allow 180mins (must be 1-2weeks after Initial Scalp Tattoo)

*small scar areas may be less than $500 per treatment, POA

Annual Refresher Tattoo Treatment, $350-$2000 (depending on area) allow 12months (preferably 12 months later, but within 18 months after last Scalp Tattoo treatment)

To prepare for your scalp tattoo;

-if you colour your hair, have your hair freshly coloured 2-3days before your first treatment

-come in with freshly washed hair on the morning of your tattoo, but make sure your hair is dry

-book all 3 appointments with 1 week between (or up to 2 weeks between)

Aftercare;

-no washing the hair for 5days post tattoo treatment

-plan for no exercise or sweating for 7days

-have your hair coloured no sooner than 3 weeks after your last session
